SCA offers cycle training tuition by an accredited CTC Cycling Training Instructor and can teach levels 1, 2 and 3 of the National Standards. We can teach people of all ages and abilities either in a small group or on a 1-1 basis, according to that person’s needs. SCA can also help in building lost confidence to help you get back out on the road again. We can also help around route planning so you can cycle to school/work or for pleasure.

The following are 2008 dates for cycle training for children in a group.

Friday March 28^th - Level 1 of the Cycle Touring Club (CTC) National Standards. (Basic skills learning 3.5x hrs).

Level 1 looks at learning how to do a cycle safety check, starting, stopping, using brakes and emergency stops, using the gears, cycling in a straight line, looking behind, signalling and the like.

Saturday March 29^th - Level 1 continued then onto level 2. Level 2 is a basic on road course which looks at such aspects as passing parked cars, turning left and right from a minor to a major road and vice-versa, exploring local roads and road junctions. (3.5x hrs).

Sunday March 30^th - Level 2 continued. (3.25x hrs).

Friday July 25^th, Sat 26^th & Sun 27^th - Same as above throughout.

Friday August 15^th, Sat 16^th & Sun 17^th - Same as above throughout.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Children need to be able to ride a cycle to participate in the above and must wear a cycle helmet and have a cycle which is serviced and road worthy. Please do not wear any baggy clothing. If your child cannot cycle then SCA can offer 1-1 lessons. Home-work is required. Successful participants will receive a certificate for both levels 1 & 2. Course commences at 09.45 a.m on all days meeting at Benhall Green primary school. (Just outside Saxmundham, Suffolk). Total course costs for the 3 days is £125.00 per person. The following are 2008 dates for cycle training for adults in a group.

Saturday April 5^th - This course will begin with level 1 as above. (3x hrs).

Sunday April 6^th - On the second day this will look at aspects of level 2 as above. (3x hrs).

Saturday May 17^th & Sunday 18^th - As above.

Saturday July 5^th & Sunday 6^th - As above.

Saturday 6^th September & Sunday 7^th - As above.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - The adults courses are designed to give you some basic road safety awareness and confidence.  It is particularly ideal for those who may be a little nervous or who may not have cycled for some time and want to get back on their bike. Please note that to do these courses you need to able to ride a cycle, even if it is wobbly! (If you cannot, SCA offer 1-1 cycle lessons). The adult course are for 6 hrs over the 2 days. Total course cost is £70.00. Course commences at 10.15 a.m on all days meeting at Benhall Green primary school. (Just outside Saxmundham, Suffolk). Please ensure your cycle is well maintained and road worthy. Participants are required to wear a cycle helmet.
